Happy Thanksgiving!

Today, I am thankful for the gift of being a photographer. It is wonderful to have the ability to show others not only the places and people they have never seen before, but more importantly, to possess the keen eye to notice and capture the seemingly bland fleeting moments of everyday life to reveal them to the viewer in a new light. As people rush by on a busy afternoon the precious, transient patterns of clouds in the sky and the softness of late afternoon light illuminating the canyons of the city go unnoticed. Their entire lives fly by ever just as swiftly, without ever stopping to enjoy these essential, simple things that make life beautiful. That is precisely when the role of the photographer becomes paramount and he, in the right place at the right time, reveals his proverbial Superman suit by pulling the camera out of the bag and saving the moment before it is gone forever.

Above all, however, I am thankful for my family, the roof over my head and my health. Without these, little can be achieved. With these thoughts, I wish you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving!
