Top Photos of 2014

It has been a long time – a year to be exact – since my last post. For that I apologize, and hope there are friends and other dedicated readers of my blog out there who will appreciate this post. The hustle and bustle of real life has kept me occupied, but never away from photography. My wife and I completed our tour of the major Hawaiian islands when we escaped to Maui during February, traditionally the coldest month in the northeastern U.S. after an extraordinarily snowy and cold winter, and what a great getaway it was! April afforded us an opportunity to photograph some a bit off-the-beaten-path places in Arizona – specifically, the turquoise waters of Havasu and the mind-bending shapes and textures of White Pocket that have captivated my imagination for years.  Of course we wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon in the meantime. As fall came I was thrilled that I finally got the chance to photograph the brilliant colors of a New England autumn in Acadia National Park.

As the holidays are upon us again, we have plenty other than this wealth of opportunities to be thankful for. Family and health top that list, and we are lucky when we have both. It is extremely sad that in the past year we’ve lost two inspirational photographers – David Patterson and Jeff Swanson – who will be greatly missed. So during this busy holiday season, don’t forget to stop to think how fortunate you are and consider making a contribution to your cancer research foundation of choice.

In the new year, I hope to be making more regular contributions to this blog. In the meantime I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season and all the best in 2015!
