Yavapai Point Sunset, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Yavapai Point on Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim is unquestionably one of the most beautiful places to experience a dramatic, one-of-a kind sunset. It is also convenient to reach, as it is located just steps away from the Visitor Center.

In the photograph below, the red light from the setting sun lights Wotans Throne on the right. To the right of Wotans Throne is Vishnu Temple. Proceeding to the left of the image, the sharp triangular peak painted in red is Zoroaster Temple; directly to its right is Brahma Temple. Further right, the Colorado River is seen winding through Bright Angel Canyon.

Technique: For the above image, a 2-stop graduated neutral density filter is used to hold back the brightness of the sky and provide adequate foreground exposure.

It is one of the most incredible shots I have ever seen lately! What a beautiful composition, colors and place! Redish color of rocks is just amazing as well as clouds with their flat bottoms and fluffy tops. Awesome shot!
